- THE RETURN OF THOMAS SANKARA
(21 Dec 2018). In 1949, today December 21th, Thomas Sankara was born, and later he was killed in October 15th, 1987 because he wanted to free Africa from the financial slavery of the public debt, and during 2018 the "yellow vests" in France are asking, like Sankara, to cancel the public debt and to abolish the African colonial franc still in use today! Evidently, one can kill a person, but the ideas survive in any case.
- IS EUROPEAN UNION ABOUT TO SPLIT UP?
(30 Nov 2018). In yesterday's vote in the Economic and Monetary Affairs committee, an attempt to elevate the rules of the Fiscal Compact (an inter-governmental treaty) into EU secondary law was defeated. The result on the vote was tied at 25-25, meaning the proposal fell. In any case, half of the European Parliament has taken a stand against the other half's drive for enshrining the rules of austerity permanently into EU law. I hypnotically (that is empirically) believe that the meaning of this event is a lot more deeper than what it seems at a first glance.
- HYPNOLOGICAL REPORT (N. 142): AN INVOLUNTARY PUZZLING DISCOVERY
(30 Oct 2018). During a personal (non professional) training in hypnosis, a client of mine suddenly developed some panic attacks; after few minutes the intense fear disappeared, and the client asked me a lot of questions and revealed that he got a diagnosis of panic attacks a couple of years ago; the most important piece of my answers has been the idea that if a person becomes able to increase the anxiety up to a panic attack than (s)he must be also able to revert it down to a state of calmness; then the client insisted for some experiments on the reversion of panic at an unconscious level, and therefore I trained him in the deepening of the trance as needed; the amazing discovery in this case has been unequivocally that panic attacks (or at least my client's ones) were not at all panic attacks but a very different type of beast very well disguised as panic; the utilization of this discovery during the training proved that the client was perfectly able to self-induce a panic and to destroy it immediately. Reality sometimes is even more strange than fantasy!
- THE ITALIAN COUNSELING SUICIDE
(29 Sep 2018). I have been told that in order to access the three-year counseling courses, it will soon be necessary to have a three-year university degree as an entry requirement; my interpretation of this novelty is that perhaps the Italian counseling prefers to commit suicide rather than get killed by psychology.. but this, of course, is only my opinion, and has no polemical or sarcastic or provocative intent, but, on the contrary, it is simply a personal thinking that I consider worth of being published on my website in order to stimulate other people to meditate.
- ANOTHER CHAPTER OF THE COLLAPSE OF ITALY
(16 Aug 2018). After a motorway bridge collapsed in Genoa killing many people, there have also been suggestions that a design flaw could have been responsible, particularly due to erroneous calculations. Concern has also been raised about the increasing volume of traffic on the A10 motorway and whether that caused faster than expected degradation of the structure. What is certainly indisputable, however, is that Italy's investment in its road network has declined alarmingly. OECD data published by the BBC shows that while Germany, France and the UK have all poured money into their roads in recent years, Italian investment fell from 13.66 billions of euro in 2007 to just 3.39 billions of euro in 2010. The figure only climbed to just over 5 billions of euro by 2015, far behind Germany (11.69 billions of euro), France (10.01 billions of euro) and the UK (9.07 billions of euro).
- IN MEMORY OF SERGIO MARCHIONNE
(31 Jul 2018). Italy is doomed to an irreversible decline. Point. I don't want to tell anything else, at least in this moment. I only mention the words of Sergio Marchionne, recently deceased: "all those who want a better Italy have the obligation to do something to change things.. sometimes in our country I have the impression that there is a passive attitude towards the present.. an attitude that is crumbling one of the pillars of our being together and of our way of looking to the future.. and it's like claiming to have the right to a better tomorrow without being aware that there is the need to be able to conquer it [..]; today we are living in the age of rights: the right to a permanent position, a guaranteed salary, a work at home, the right to shout and parade, and the right to claim.. let me say that the rights are sacrosanct and must be protected, but if we continue to live only on rights, we will die of rights, because this evolution of the species creates a generation much weaker than the previous one, without the courage to fight but with the hope that someone else will do something [..]; if you want to have, then you must also give".
- A PHYSICIAN (MY CLIENT) DESCRIBES SOME DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPNOLOGY AND PSYCHOLOGY
(29 Jun 2018). "I met dr. Alberto Torelli a day when he came to my office with a business card saying: 'I am a hypnotist'. I told him: 'dear sir, I hold my hand on my wallet because with your pendulum you make me sleep and steal my money. In any case, I farewell you, goodbye'. After a few years, a relative of mine developed tremendous fears, and I tried drugs, psychiatrists, psychologists, I did not know any longer what to do, and I suggested hypnosis; she talked to Alberto and the next day with my wife we went on horseback for fifteen kilometers, and she was not afraid of horses anymore. The fear ended there, it was over. One day I was stressed and I met Alberto to try hypnosis, and I noticed that it's not like when you go to the psychologist who asks you questions, because here, on the contrary, you talk freely, and Alberto sometimes told me that I could close my eyes to such an extent that I could not open them anymore; it took me a while to figure it out, but if I do it the stress disappears, it's weird but it's like that: with these little games I get rid of stress without needing any help". What my client has never understood is that if you play these little games then talking or listening is just a waste of time and, above all, a waste of a lot of money.
- TOWARDS AN EVEN MORE HOLISTIC APPROACH
(19 May 2018). When I studied hypnotherapy, I found it very unsatisfactory from the beginning, and this immediately pushed me to develop hypnology; even though almost all my clients have seen and appreciated the improvements, after more than two decades of study and practice, I'm not finding anymore anything new in hypnology, and so I feel again the need to go further; since I'm also a biologist, I give a more concrete and more known example, so that people can better understand what I mean: in nutritional sciences there's always a lot of emphasis on calorie counting and fat control, and yet these two criteria, which are universally used and accepted, are contradicted by facts, in the sense that it is absolutely possible to eat a lot of fat and remain lean and perfectly healthy (one of the reasons, in simple words, is that human metabolism cannot transform fats into sugars, but only sugars into fats; another reason is that the same calories have very different effects when they come from different foods). The problem is that diets, hypnotherapy, and many other approaches, do not allow people to live at their best because such approaches are spoiled by serious systematic errors; moreover, those errors are unfortunately very difficult to correct, because 99% of professionals are sheeps that are unable to go beyond the fence of the rules that have been taught to them, and the remaining 1%, if trying to change something, is attacked because it represents a real threat to the pre-established business; unfortunately for these sheeps, the new is destined to replace the old. And this also applies, of course, to hypnology.
- IS CURING PATIENTS A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MODEL?
(30 Apr 2018). One-shot cures carry tremendous value for patients and society, but represent a challenge for a sustained cash flow. For example, treatments for hepatitis C achieved cure rates of more than 90 percent, but the drug company's sales for these hepatitis C treatments collapsed from $12.5 billions in 2015, to what will be less than $4 billions this year, 2018; in other words, the success of the treatment has gradually exhausted the available pool of treatable patients; moreover, in the case of infectious diseases such as hepatitis C, curing existing patients also decreases the number of carriers able to transmit the virus to new patients, and therefore the therapy business sooner or later becomes unsustainable. On the contrary, where the therapies are a lot less effective, the pool of patients is more stable (for example cancer patients); therefore, the more the therapy is effective, the more the pool of patients declines; or, which is the same thing, the more the pool of patients grow, and the more the therapy is ineffective; now, about mental disorders there are numerous studies all reporting the same trends, that is a dramatic rise in mental illness and suicide. This is particularly true for children and teens; what should we think about these facts? Following the line of thought above, one can legitimately deduce that the so-called psychological therapies are becoming less and less useful (in fact the number of patients is dramatically growing), and in my opinion the less effective ones are the most common because today they are the only economically sustainable "therapies".
- PROFESSIONAL HYPNOLOGY SCHOOL: NEW SCIENTIFIC MANUAL
(31 Mar 2018). Scientific literature on hypnotherapy is mostly deceiving, contradictory, and not much useful because it is published by people that rarely have enough competence and skills; in fact medical and psychological models when applied to hypnology get results that are a lot inferior to those got through holistic approaches. But the most surprising thing is that there are several papers that are intrinsically very valuable, whose authors has come to wrong conclusions and didn't understand the real nature of the phenomena they stumbled upon. The indoctrination made these authors rigid and unable to adapt to the hypnotic situation. This is why I have made a collection of papers that I have accurately selected: only in this way even the naive student will be able to see the difference during the training and the supervision with me. Starting from now, this new archive (see here) completely replaces the old and obsolete scientific attachments of the hypnosis manual.
- HYPNOLOGICAL REPORT (N. 141): AN UN-CURABLE PHYSICIAN
(27 Feb 2018). A medical specialist, suffering since a long time because of panic attacks and insomnia, came into my office saying: "I tried drugs, psychotherapy, pranotherapy, and everything else, included medical and psychological hypnosis, but I still have panic and a serious lack of sleep"; since the hypnotic training is not a therapy, and since people classified as un-curable have found no relief from any therapy, we immediately started with the exercises; after few sessions the panic had gone, and sleep quality had improved a lot; moreover, the physician told me that his improvements were extremely stable during time, and he expressed amazement because I never did any sort of diagnosis nor analysis, and not even any sort of therapy nor psychotherapy nor psychology; in order to help him to better understand, I explained to him that in hypnology diagnosis and therapy are deprecated, because they actually prevent the person from working well hypnotically, they cause a big waste of time and, above all, they jeopardize the development of adequate hypnotic activities; in addition, in order to discourage whatsoever attitude of dependence, the hypnotic training usually doesn't go beyond five sessions (it depends on the student's learning ability); nevertheless, this physician wanted at any cost to continue to see me, and so he had to accept to come into my office no more than one time every two months; these very sporadic encounters have been extremely satisfactory for him, because the physician was actually living a good life in a fully autonomous way, and, moreover, he could keep the reassuring but illusory idea of having an always-available hypnotic service. In fact he soon found that a short (few minutes) phone call to me was more than enough, and then we no longer got in touch at all.
- WELCOMING 2018: UNIVERSAL VISIBILITY AND IMPROVED SPEED!
(22 Jan 2018). First of all, now this internet website is visible basically on every existing device, even on extremely low-level mobile phones (where many modern websites are not visible, because of a "not enough memory" error); in addition, the contents that you are reading are no longer hosted in Germany but in Bulgaria, because in Sofia the average internet connection speed seems definitely superior.
